  • The Chopper: A Brief History
A chopper is a type of motorcycle that became popular after World War II. Motorcycles are assembled with an array of parts, including the rather conservative fender. After World War II, veterans came home and decided to strip down their bikes to make them easier to ride. Aping their military motorcycles, the vets were quick to make their civilian bikes capable of racing in rough terrain. A typical civilian bike was laden with unneeded parts and accessories.
  • Riding the Streets of Los Angeles
Gas prices being what they are, a great many people are choosing motorcycles, scooters, mopeds, and other two-wheeled bikes for transportation. The number of new motorcycle sales in this country is growing yearly, and so is the number of accidents. If you ride in California, you should realize that the traffic accident statistics among motorcyclists are high in that state, and Los Angeles has by far the worst record.
  • Down In the Lab: Frankenstein
When you think of the Frankenstein movies, names like Boris Karloff, Colin Clive, Mary Shelley and James Whale come to mind. But have you ever heard of Kenneth Strickfaden? Long ignored in the annals of horror movie fame, Strickfaden is the man whose electrical designs made Frankenstein the movie that it is. He was called "Dr. Frankenstein's electrician" and was directly responsible for all of the electrical effects used in the monster creation scene. He also created all the electrical effects for the slew of other Frankenstein sequels. He was even a stunt double for Boris Karloff, who was deathly afraid of electricity.
  • Motorcycle Law and Easy Rider
If you are a motorcycle lover, Easy Rider, made in 1969, is a must see. Indeed, it's essentially required viewing. It's not so much an action movie as a piece of history. The plot starts with Wyatt (played by Peter Fonda) and Billy (played by Dennis Hopper) riding their way to Mardi Gras. During this drive they encounter hitchhikers, a drunken lawyer (played famously by Jack Nicholson), some jail time, and ultimately the great unknown.

  • Dinnerware: The Rules
I detest eating at high-end restaurants. In case you are wondering, by "high-end" I mean any restaurant where I am required to use more than one fork and one spoon. Nevermind the knife. My husband, on the other hand, loves fancy dinnerware and the elaborate details it entails. He often tells me that I deserve to be treated like a princess, but how am I supposed to enjoy a formal meal when I have no idea which fork and knife to use for my well-done steak?
  • A Brief Survey of Wedding Customs
For as long as the custom of marriage has been a celebrated human custom, there have been curious rituals associated with them. These rituals, at least concerning modern weddings, include such behavior as the groom providing an engagement ring, the bride carrying a handkerchief, wearing a veil, and wearing "something blue." Even the very custom of the bride wearing white seems outdated to most modern couples. Where did these traditions come from?

  • Salviati Glass: Bold Fixtures
Though not often mentioned, the history of glass is elementally interwoven into human history. Anyone who has experienced their stunning glass products can vouch for their luminescence and craftsmanship.
  • The Breast Augmentation Chicago Surgeons Offer Is Unparalleled
For one reason or another, cultures throughout history have been preoccupied the female breast. Most women, however, prefer something a bit more natural looking.

  • Dancing For Money: The Bridal Registry
When we think about weddings, it can be interesting to think about them in terms of cultures or customs other than our own. One example of a wedding tradition is the money dance. Rooted in ancient traditions, is it still a popular feature of many modern weddings.

When people mention Arthur C. • The Benefits of Using GPS
One of the great things about technological innovation is that breakthroughs in one area produce unforeseen changes in other areas. No one would have assumed that one side effect of the Soviet Union's launching the Sputnik satellite in the late 1950's would be an approach for businesses to save money or parents to know if their teenagers are taking the car to a prohibited area of town. Indeed, that single satellite inadvertently paved the way for the current web of satellites that enable GPS, or Global Positioning System, to operate.

There are issues resulting from indefinite or unmet goals, miscommunication between departments, product placement, personnel management problems, and many other responsibilities to handle.

Crystal is one of the most beautiful materials ever made by man. Those who appreciate the finer things of life owe a debt of gratitude to the first person who conceived the notion that molten sand could ever create something so useful. Glassmaking is actually art. The Mesopotamians were producing glass, by the third millennium BC and the Egyptians in the second millennium. It was, however, quite dear, considered to be on par with gold.
  • Fine Jewelry: A Welcome Gift

Before writing was thought of and before land was cultivated, men were plying women with jewelry. Since the dawn of time, naturally, fashions have transformed a bit, but the desire for brilliant jewelry is still with us.

  • Strategic Planning Gives Executives an Edge
Successful businesses do not just appear. Naturally there is such a thing as being in the right place at the right time, but in general, there is someone with vision and drive at the wheel. Think about the companies that have enjoyed long success. What sets them apart from all the others that open their doors, last a few years, and then fade away like a tumbleweed on the Nevada desert? For a company to thrive, there must be flexible and insightful individuals at the helm in order to weather the storms of the market and changing financial moods.

  • Motorcycle Accident Victims Need Legal Aid
To those who are not motorcyclists, it may be difficult to understand the attraction of something which, to the outsider, looks so dangerous. After all, you are riding a motorcycle vehicle at high speeds with nothing more than your clothes and, hopefully, a helmet between you and the highway in the event of an accident. When you consider how much more of a danger seemingly little things like speed bumps, potholes, and debris are to a two wheeled vehicle than to a truck, the risk seems even more rash.

Chemistry has been improving life for humans in one way or another for an amazing 10,000 years!

  • Boat Engines Deserve Serious Consideration
Boat owners have a large selection of choices before them when it comes to purchasing an engine. There are lots of factors to consider, including the boat's weight and the planned uses for your boat. (When calculating weight, be sure to add in the weight of passengers, cargo, and fuel, which can total hundreds of pounds.) If you install an engine with too much horsepower, it will drive up unnecessary fuel costs and possibly make the boat run faster than is safe. Conversely, too little horsepower is bad, too. The engine will work too hard and maintenance issues can multiply. Your boat's manufacturer should give you solid recommendations on horsepower, however.
  • Cosmetic Surgeons In Chicago Excel
Not that long ago, people were reluctant to reveal that they had had cosmetic procedures. Perhaps people did not want to be considered vain, or maybe they wanted to promote the illusion that Mother Nature had blessed them with eternal youth and great metabolism. For whatever the reason, it was a forbidden subject. Therefore, a tummy tuck might be referred to as some sort of necessary abdominal surgery. Face lifts and nose jobs were denied. This cagey attitude is still often maintained by celebrities, and the cosmetic surgery histories of the stars are still popular topics of conversation.
  • Photography Skills For a Lifetime
Most people think that photography did not come about until the mid-1800s, and in a sense, they are right, but many discoveries that made today's photography possible came far earlier. The first camera invented, in fact, was a pinhole camera made by Ibn al Haytham (965-1040). The important discovery of silver nitrate by Albertus Magnus came in the 13th century, followed later by silver chloride. In 1694, the photochemical effect of light on chemicals was earliest described by Wilhelm Homberg.

  • Penny Preville: Jewelry Linked to the Past
The desire for women to decorate themselves with rich things dates back to the dim reaches of our past. It was not the ancient Babylonians who thought it up, nor the Romans or Greeks. They are "newbies" compared to the earliest jewelers! Archaeology has discovered mollusk shells in South Africa with drilled holes for stringing. The date? 100,000 years B.C.! Almost from the time people started thinking clothes might be a nice choice, women revealed the instinct to accessorize!
  • Math Games Are a Path to Success
Do you have a son or daughter who has problems with math? Maybe it is a fourth grader who resorts to slowly counting on his fingers while his friends long ago memorized their lists of addition and subtraction problems. Sometimes, the procedures for the equations they are being taught is foreign to today's parents.
  • Baby Announcements: Truly Special Keepsakes
Many kinds of social events bring friends and families together. The majority of them, like weddings, anniversaries, and birthday parties, are very festive occasions. Few are as significant, however, as a newborn in the family. Defying hospital rules limiting visitors to two at a time, family members and friends flood into the tired but happy mother's hospital room. Packed like sardines, they circle the bed, cooing over the tiny bundle everyone insists on passing around. Sometimes there is a territorial preschooler strutting about showing off "my baby!" The glow in the room in palpable.
  • Robbe & Berking: Setting the Finest Tables Since 1874
Humans in the 21st century take a lot for granted. Take flatware, for instance. It seems so rudimentary a concept. You must be able to smile and treat with great civility even the most unpleasant person on earth.
  • Health Plans: Saving Money
The fast rising cost of health plans in this country shows no sign of leveling off. For employers and individuals alike, it has become a crucial financial burden. Cries for relief have been largely ignored. One of the latest responses to employers' pleas has made the situation even more unmanageable for their employees. The addition of more and more medications to the list of "Tier 4" drugs and charging patients a percentage of the actual cost rather than a flat co-pay is putting an astronomical burden on patients. The "Tier 4" drugs are the most modern and costly, of all drugs. Some prescriptions are higher than the cost of the patient's mortgage payment. Therefore, prescriptions for new cancer drugs or prescriptions to slow the progression of diseases such as muscular dystrophy are becoming financially available only to the rich. This is devastating.
  • Finding A Plastic Surgeon In Chicago
For thousands of years plastic surgery was used only as reconstructive surgery to restore function to the face and other body parts impaired by war injuries, birth defects such as a cleft palette, burns, and tumors. Surgeons learned to work with bone, cartilage, muscle, fat, and skin to deal with a number of injuries, such as shattered noses, mangled ears, and broken facial bones. Of course, these repairs often resulted in bettering the patients' appearance, but that was not the reason for surgery. Plastic surgery was concerned with function before anything else. This continued well into the 20th century. World War I, in fact, offered more challenges to surgeons than ever before, as maiming proceeded on a huge scale, with newer and more frightening weapons.

Up until the last century, cosmetic surgery sought almost exclusively to repair damage from birth defects or battle. They experimented with ways to fix ear and nose damage, especially by skin graft. The chance of suffering a severe head injury or dying in motorcycle accidents is higher because the motorcyclist has nothing to absorb the impact of the crash but his or her body. In an instant the thrill of just you and the open highway becomes the terror of just you and the asphalt. Motorcycle accidents can be particularly devastating.

With digital pictures you have the added options of printing them at home, sending them to friends via the internet, or using a photography program to doctor them up.

One early code for the game Manic Miner was actually the game maker's phone number. Game makers did not bother removing the cheats and gamers embraced them. Like hidden bonus tracks on CDs and special features on DVD's, they became expected. • Love Your Nose: Rhinoplasty In Chicago
Want to hear something astonishing? Nose jobs are nothing new. Actually, rhinoplasty was first invented 2,500 years ago by a physician referred to as the "Father of Surgery." His name was Sushruta and he practiced in northern India during the 6th century B.C. He taught and wrote extensively, describing hundreds of instruments and procedures, as well as classifying animals.
