  • Global Warming: The Effects on Forestry and Agriculture  By : Calvino Maseko
The way land is used can have an affect on global warming. The kinds of plants, animals, or minerals set upon a plot of land render it different from other plots of land. It is these differences that can be explored to help you gain an understanding of global warming.
  • Why Solar Power and Solar Panels Important  By : Gugu Maseko
The sun is a very intense ball of gas up in the atmosphere. It burns twenty four hours a day, seven days per week. We only see it during out daytime but on the other side of the globe they get the daytime when we get the night. When the sun light beams down on the earth's surface, a small percentage of the solar radiation heading for earth gets reflected. There are larger amounts of the sunlight that is actually absorbed. When you consider the fact that the sunlight must go through fog, clouds, dust particles and harmful pollutants in order to reach us that reduce the amount of sunlight that we receive even more. When it finally makes it to the earth's surface it is then radiated back up into space. When it reaches the earth, plants and vegetation absorb it and the oceans, winds and other resources absorb the sunlight as well.
  • Solar Power: Wind Turbine and wind Power  By : Gugu Maseko
Vertical axis wind turbines need to be pointed in the direction of the wind. And the disadvantages of this is that there can be pulsating torques that can happen during each turn when the turbine is running in the same direction as the wind. They produce a smaller amount of energy from the wind.
  • Global Warming: US Mayors Climate Protection Agreement  By : Mahase Maseko
With the global effects growing, Mayor Nickels sent out a challenge to mayors across the country urging them to start implementing the changes that the Kyoto Protocol demanded of its member nations. The idea was that if a grassroots network could be built to prevent global warming, it would essentially do the same job that the government was shirking by not ratifying the Kyoto agreement.
  • Recycling: The Loon Mountain and Keeping Our Planet clean  By : Wandile Maseko

  • Global Warming and the Significance Changes  By : Frank Maseko
The consequences of global warming are far-reaching. One of the most devastating effects of global warming is that, as the ocean water warms, it impacts tropical storms. Hurricanes that would have been category 3 storms in past years are now category 4 or above. This is because they are energized when they pick up the warmer ocean water.
  • Solar Energy: Heating Your Home and Efficient Appliances  By : Gugu Maseko
Remodeling your home to use the sun as a natural heating source is fairly easy to do. Although you can't change the direction that your home is built in to face the morning sun you can still trap the sunlight that shines through and reduce the amount of time that you use another source of heat. You may want to consider building a sun room onto the side that catches the morning sun allowing it to heat up naturally and then install ceiling fans that will circulate the air into the parts of the house. During the day this may provide enough heat to maintain the warmth in your home. When remodeling your home, it will help to install solar power windows that are specially designed to attract the sunlight and allow it to come into the house but not let it escape. This is a natural way to heat your home.
  • A Thing or Two on Solar Power  By : Johnson Maseko
There are more products that use solar power than what we realize. A lot of the electronics made will use some type of solar power in order to function completely and accurately. For example, calculators are solar power products. These calculators may or may not have on and off switches. Some rely on the solar panel completely in order to stay or turn off. Solar power calculators need a certain amount of light inside the solar panel in order to turn the calculator on and perform what you want it to do; add, subtract, divide, multiply and more. The solar panel in a calculator is not as big as the one that you would to power your home. The size needed for a calculator is adjusted before installation to provide the right amount of what it needs. Solar power products can be found in travel products, outdoor recreation, safety products, emergency products and more.
  • The Role of Transportation and Extreme Events on Global Warming  By : Elias Maseko
With the issue of transportation, it is predicted that Americans will continue to put gasoline-burning cars on the road at alarming rates over the next twenty years. The number estimated is around 300 million new cars. With this expectation, it is clear that cars should be made with energy efficiency in mind. Otherwise, they will cause extensive global warming.
  • Some Effects of Global Warming On Ice Age and Forestry  By : Wandile Maseko
With ice age the ocean currents called the Gulf Stream bring warm waters up to the UK and Europe from the Caribbean. These waters warm the countries around their path. This is what causes the UK, Europe, and Scandinavia to have such a nicer climate than, say, Alaska. Global warming has nothing to do with that.
  • Climate Change and Other Effects Of Global Warming  By : Norman Mhlanga
The weather is getting decidedly warmer. For the most part, the United States has already warmed up some. In some places, the average rise in temperature is around four degrees Fahrenheit. However, all the states show some degree of warming.
  • Let's Get More Information on Solar Power  By : Gugu Maseko
For solar power you need to direct the sunlight to a concentrated area in order to have enough energy to power your source. Some of the biggest solar power towers are set up around the world. Solar power is not something that a few people are trying but solar power is about the future, everyone's future. When you use a light in your home you may not realize the process that brings that energy to that switch so when you flip it on you will have lights. The energy that it takes to run power to our homes are not a natural way of energy. Conserving the energy that comes from the sun is the most natural way to equip our homes with energy, heat and more. When we use natural resources we save in several ways; by preserving the earth, cutting down on monthly and over all costs, and no inconvenient power outages.
  • Climate Changes Due To Global Warming  By : Jass Sukati
The past 9 years has produced the warmest years due to global warming. In fact, every year from the first to the second warmest years, ranked within the warmest 25 years in the US. In 2006, the annual average temperature was 55 degrees Fahrenheit. Recent warm years point to a climate change being brought on by global warming. There have been more and more frequent droughts in the West in recent years. The last 30 years in particular have seen numerous droughts. These droughts have spawned wildfires that set new records in 2006 for number of fires and of acres burned. Further proof of global warming is seen in these destructive wildfires.
  • The Landfill and Recycling  By : Wandile Maseko
I've given myself a great gift this year; call it a field trip, if you like, but I took myself to my town's landfill and had my eyes opened for the first time. Maybe the concept of someone reaching their 40s and still not being contentious of recycling is one that sounds far-fetched, well, it's the truth. I didn't grow up imagining the Earth covered in over-flowing landfills, piles and piles of garbage as high as the tallest building that was not my experience. But because the idea of leaving too much waste for the Earth to handle is a bitter reality today, I've begun to educate myself.
  • Let's Clear Our Environment through Recycling  By : Dumo Maseko
Prior to the formation of the Department of Sanitation, more than three quarters of all waste from the city of New York was simply dumped into the ocean. Just a decade later, in 1895, the very first recycling plan was implemented by Commissioner George Waring in which his plan separated household waste into three categories; there was food waste, rubbish and ash.
  • Maintaining A Compost Pile For Recycling  By : Amanda Maseko
In today's world, where the idea of recycling is not an option, but a necessity, having your own compost pile is a great activity and resources in keeping with the mandatory recycle laws. The bonuses of composting heavily outweigh any negative connotations compost piles have had to defend themselves against; mainly, the smell.
  • Some Reviews on the IPCC Reports about Global Warming  By : Alson Maseko
With the release of the IPCC reports, attention was given as to how much of the problem was due to human activity and how much to causes in nature. Which then this report makes predictions of how the course of global warming will run in the future.

  • Energy Efficient Windows Help Your Pocket And The Environment  By : Graham Tasker
When it comes to wasting energy, it's a fact that most of the heat that disappears out of your home does so through the windows. Most cheap windows have poor seals that lead to drafts and heat loss. This leads to you turning up the heating to compensate which in turn leads to higher energy bills and, topically, you're not helping the environment either. Of course, fitting new energy-efficient windows is a great idea, but it's going to be pretty expensive, right? Well, not necessarily. There are government tax breaks to consider and the ultimate saving in your heating bills.
