How Do You Use Feng Shui Wind Chimes?

By: Kyle Richey..

If you ever visit china or Asia on a vacation, you will see several homes have wind chimes hanging out on the porch or a window or above the doorway. Wind chimes are believed to have been brought to the US through Feng Shui. Wind chimes were always used as another beautiful piece of artifact at home before Feng Shui as well. Here we will look into some details.

Other questions to be answered are: how do you use feng shui wind chimes in the home? Where should they be placed? Where should they not be placed in the interests of practicing sound feng shui?

The Five Elements and Wind Chimes

You are probably already familiar with the five elements, namely, wood, water, fire, earth and metal, that are the embodiment of feng shui. These elements are meant to balance one another and keep any one from overpowering a room or any particular area. Feng shui wind chimes are usually used as such an element in order to introduce either metal or wood to a room or to a home.

A room that is colored in earth tones, such as warm browns or tans, will need a metal element to balance it. If your living room is such a color, this is where the metal element needs to be. Having feng shui wind chimes that are made of metal outside your living room where they are visible to those inside, such as from a porch rafter, is helpful.

If you have feng shui wind chimes in vibrant colors like oranges and yellows, they will work well to offset the muted colors of the earth tones in your den and provide balance to the room.

A white kitchen has a bright, clean look, but can also feel a bit clinical. You can balance out this feeling (which is caused by an overabundance of the water element) with the warmth of the wood element. Wooden feng shui wind chimes can be introduced by putting them right outside of the kitchen. Again, this can be outside from a window or door off of the kitchen. The warmth of the wood will balance out the cold feeling of a white kitchen.

Bad Feng Shui Locations For Wind Chimes

Feng shui is just as much about what to leave out as it is what to include. For this reason, there are situations where feng shui wind chimes may be unwarranted. For example, if your home tends to be noisy and chaotic, wind chimes may not be such a good idea for your particular case. They should also be left out if you live in close quarters with neighbors who will be annoyed by them or where you live prohibits them.

Feng shui brings peace and unlimited energy into your lives. If there already is a lot of noise in your household, or if you get into trouble with neighbors or landlord, it is best avoided. The essence of the science should be preserved: happiness, vitality and harmony.
