Advice on Taking Fantastic Photographs

By: SFXsource

Photography is fun and easy and with only a little knowledge you can begin taking beautiful photographs in no time. Whether you are using a Polaroid, digital, or SLR camera, you can take amazing photographs. If you are traveling abroad or attending a family reunion, photography is a wonderful hobby to explore. Consider these pointers to get off to a great start.

1. First, pick a subject matter. You may choose to photograph people, animals, food, or nature; pick a something that intrigues you. Use your imagination and be creative.

2. Experiment photographing that subject from different distances. Try backing up to include the surrounding area, and then get in real close. You will be surprised at how different each shot looks.

3. Don't be afraid to get down on the ground or climb up high to get a different angle of your subject. Different angles create very different images, and you may like what you see.

4. Avoid placing your subject in the middle of the frame. You may want to experiment putting your subject in different areas around the frame. Each image will take on a more professional look.

5. Be aware of color, texture, and patterns. Look for details that others may have missed.

6. Remember that photography is all about documenting light (photo = light, graphi = to write) and morning and evenings are optimum times to shoot. Shadows are long when the sun is low (dawn and dusk). It's always fun to see how your subject looks at different times of day.

Photography is a lot of fun, so make sure you are enjoying yourself. Find photographers and photography books that inspire you. A number of different photography magazines can also give you ideas. Remember that the more you photograph, the better you will get!
