Article Marketing sounds very confusing, but it doesn’t necessarily have to be. You need to know what you are talking about to be able to do, and there are certain guidelines you would be advised to follow, but all in all, it can be a very simple process of promoting your website for free (occasionally with a cost of very little.)

The following three points are essential to productive article marketing. There are not guidelines, or rules, but they will be helpful to you and your business!

Research

You need to arm yourself with as much information as possible when considering article marketing. Find out how, what, where etc. Everything you can find out. The more knowledgeable you are, the more productive your article marketing project will be. Research the background of article marketing, find out some success stories, join forums dedicated to the topic, etc. You can never know too much, and the more you know, the more likely you are to get it right first time. Obviously some trial and error will be involved with finding the right article directories, the best layout etc.

Prepare

Prepare yourself for writing the article. Are you going to write the article yourself, or are you going to pay someone to do it for you. Is it going to be an article with keywords, links etc. If you are going to pay somebody to write it for you, are you going to use a freelancing website, or a professional article writer? What is your budget? What is your time span? If you are writing the article yourself, how long does it have to be (how many words, paragraphs etc)? Also make sure on your approach to the article. Are you going to write it as a review style or maybe as FAQ style? The style depends on the subject of your article, and you will feel with time what the appropriate style for your article is. A good tip is to read existing articles from different subject on article directories and test your own reaction: what type of article caught your attention and kept your attentions span – and why? Work out exactly how your article is going to be laid out. The more prepared you are, the better your article will be. Again, a little bit of research on what you are writing about will help.

Action

This is where you have the article written, and you decide to submit it to article directories etc. You will have already worked out where you want to submit it to in Step One. After a while, you will find that article marketing does get easier. It is a case of trial and error but there are websites and programs to make the whole business a lot easier. You will find out what works for you, and if it is profitable enough for you to warrant paying for somebody to write the articles for you.
